I am a sportsman and in one of my Interviews, I said that all journalists are drunkards. Can I be liable for defaming the entire class of journalists?

The courts have held that an insulting remark against a large class of individuals does not amount to defamation, because no individualís reputation is specifically injured by such a general remark. Hence you are not guilty of defamation if you call all journalists drunkards or all lawyers liars. However, if you make remarks against a specified small group of individuals (for example, the kindergarten teachers of a particular school), you may be liable for defaming each one of them separately

No, you will not be entitled to gratuity as a lawyers office is not a commercial establishment nor is it a industry under the law
My friend has been accused of murdering.Being very poor he is unable to get the services of an advocate. What should I do? Is there a law which makes it the duty of the state to provide a lawyer to defend me during the trail?

Your friend has the right to have free legal aid. It has been held by the Supreme Court that the state is under a constitutional obligation to ensure that every accused person has legal representation. This does not start from the time of the trial but also from the very first time that the accused is produced before a magistrate. Your state will have its local legal aid board who you can contact. There are also a number of organizations and lawyers who are willing to help . It is also the duty of the court to inform the accused of his right to legal aid.
Could you kindly tell me what if a petitioner who has filed a case through the women's commission in Kerala, not appeared for the trial at any time for almost 2 years. I mean, would the case still be active or it will be rejected.
