The VocalMusician Forum

HERE WE WILL DISCUSS VARIOUS ISSUES PERTAINING TO SINGING. WHEN YOU START A NEW SUBJECT OR REPLY TO AN EXISTING ONE, PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR VOICE TYPE (Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Baritone, etc.) WITH YOUR NAME. IF YOUR VOICE WAS NEVER CLASSIFIED, JUST PUT WHAT PART YOU SING IN THE CHOIR: Sop I or II, Alto I or II, etc. THANKS!!!

Re: Re: Re: Influential singers

Ooo! You would loooove her. She's friends with Rachelle and they've performed together (you know that takes some kinda calibre!). Her website is http://www.ledisi.com and she is amazing. She has two cds out, 'Soulsinger' which is a soul cd (obviously), and 'Feeling Orange But Sometimes Blue', a jazz cd. She's got a live cd in the works. I would really suggest picknig up Soulsinger as an introduction to an amazing artist.

I'm not familiar with her at all. Does she have a website? If so, send me her URL.

Another influential singer of mine is Ledisi. She has immense range along with huge amounts of fire and passion.

Who is/are the singer(s) who has/have influenced or inspired you the most? And why? Be as technical as you want - we're all singers here.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Influential singers

for me the ultimate influential singer is chaka khan.
no one gives me goose bumps the way she does.not to mention that chaka is the most imitated not duplicated.lol female singer ever.
chaka has all the ingredients of what a good singer needs.color, texture, range, power and versatility.
simply the best.
