Hurt descendants
My Father's grandmother was Landie or Malinda Hurt married to Milledge Smith. Her father was Abraham F. Hurt married to Laura Rice Hurt. His parents were Kindred and Hulda Edison Hurt their children were Elizabeth, Sopronia, Salona, Clavender, and Abraham F. Kindred father was John Hurt. I do not have any more information on John, but Kindred was born in South Carolina born abt. 1829. In a 1860 Cencus kindred and family were living in Saluda Regiment, Edgefield County, South Carolina at Mine Creek Post Office. If any one has any information on John Hurt born abt. 1800. Please reply. Thanks, Caroline |

Colt Adkison (coltadkison@cox.net)has a lot of Hurt information as does Kay Bradley (texasfolks@ticnet.com) Their information indicates that John Hurt was born in Virginia about 1774 and died in Pike County, Al in 1847. His will is posted on the ancestry.com site -- wife is Elizabeth. I have not used these addresses so if they don't work, let me know and I will send what I have. I am researching for a neighbor who is a Hurt descendent from South Carolina. |
