Lytes/Lites, Pond(s), Thorntons, Airharts -African-American
My Lytes/Lites/Leitz - Ponds – Thornton – Airhart families. in Lexington County in 1880. Part of the families migrated to Conway County, Arkansas. They may also have lived in Batesburg - not sure. In the 1880 census, they were in Hollow Creek or Gilbert Hollow. Three of them settled in Conway County, Morrilton, Arkansas; two lived in California and the others I have no clue. The two in California's information is sparse. I am from the Arkansas line. Here is what I have. MARK PONDS AND FRANCES LYTES POND(S) Mark and Frances Lytes Pond(s)’ Children – all brothers and sisters born in South Carolina were: Alice Sawyer Boozer. Spouses or partners: Nathan Davis and Richard Boozer, Sr.. John Bascom Ponds (Backy). Spouses: Ida Armstead from TN. (my great-grandparents). married Ella Mason from TN after Ida died. John Bascom and Ida’s children werea 4. Lizzie Ponds. Don’t have any information about her. 5. Thomas Pond . Spouse: Minnie Lee Curtis from SC. Lived and died in California. Children?????. No inf. 6. Mary Ponds. Don’t have any information about her 7. Estelle Ponds (the first Estelle): Don’t have any information about her. Backy named his daughter after her. 8. Cromwell Ponds lived in Kansas City, Missouri in 1917 when he registered for the draft and in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1920 where he was a pullman porter for a railroad company. He died in Alameda, CA. Had no wife or children that I have found. nothing after 1920. Our Pond(s) family history was published this month without benefit of the missing information. (Conway County Genealogical Society has a copy of the 300+ page book )Any help with the Pond(s) - Lytes family greatly appreciated. JAMES MELVIN2 AIRHART, b. 01 Dec 1857, South Carolina; d. 25 Dec 1944, Morrilton, Conway County, AR; married Elizabeth Hyler. 3. BENJAMIN BURRELL THORNTON, b. 20 Dec 1856, Lexington County, SC; d. 16 May 1914, Morrilton, Conway County, AR. Married Linah _________ (maybe), Lucy Davenport, and Belle Denton. 4. ELLA THORNTON, b. 1862. No information 5. .JAMES PEARSON THORNTON, b. 1863, South Carolina. Married Elizabeth ____________ 6. JULIA THORNTON, b. 1864. No information 7. GREEN THORNTON was born .Jun 1865 in Lexington County, Gilbert Hollow, South Carolina; d. 19 Dec 1954, Los Angeles, California; married Hattie Boozer, Hattie was born April 17, 1870 in South Carolina; d. 09 Feb 1943, Los Angeles, California. 8. HENRY THORNTON was born about 1866 in Lexington County, Gilbert Hollow, South Carolina; d. unknown date, unknown place, possibly in Arkansas. He married Lemuel G.L. Boozer on, 24 Dec 1888, Morrilton, Arkansas She was born. 23 Sep 1872, inSouth Carolina. She died 17 Mar 1903, Conway County, Arkansas and is buried in Oddfellows Cemetery. 9. JOHN THORNTON, b. 1872. (Don’t know what happened to him. 10. FRANK COLUMBUS THORNTON, b. Apr 1873, South Carolina; d. 13 Apr 1947, Morrilton, Conway County, AR. 11. LIZZIE THORNTON, b. 1877, South Carolina; m. WILLIE BROWN, 15 Jul 1895, Morrilton, Conway County, AR; b. 1874. I cannot find the Ponds who didn't move to Arkansas before 1880 nor after 1880. Didn't find Alice Sawyer before or afterwards. Any information about the families who remained greatly appreciated. |
