Harris families in SC
I am looking for a connection between my GG Grandfather George Harris (b. abt. 1834 married to Charity Jinkins Vassey in 1851 in NC) and some of his forebears from SC. George, although sometimes reported as being born in NC and sometimes in SC, moved his little family to Spartanburg Co, SC area before the 1860 Census in which they were listed (Martinville Township).I know there were several Harris Families there before they got there and I was wondering if anyone knows of a connection with George. George W. Harris was the child of Riley Harris and Millie Susannah Gee, of the Union Area of SC. Riley seems to have come from Rutherford, NC, where he spent most of his life, but I have a feeling his roots are in SC!! Can anyone make a connection here? I believe that Riley's full name was William Riley Harris and I know that he was born around 1810, with possibly a brother named Peledge Harris, but that is all. Does anyone doing Genealogy in the Spartanburg, or Union Counties areas of SC have the listed children of any Harris with the first name of William or Riley or George?
