Reister/Rister
Query---Reister/Rister Known: John Jacob Reister arrived S.C. on the Rowand 1752, brought wife & 5 children, petitioned and received 350 ac. Known: George Jacob Reister, oldest son of above, age 21 when he came with his father in 1752. Georg Jacob Reister m. Katherine Reimensperger (dau. of John Jacob Reimensperger) before 1754, by which date, he, along with 3 brothers-in-law, had inherited land from Reimensperger. (Land bounded on NE on Hanna Maria Stolea) 1760s—served with Chevillette in Cherokee War. 1774—Obtained 100 ac. Bounty Land Grant, as did his siblings. His, recorded as Jacob Ristoro, in Berkley Co., “on a Branch of Four Holes….” [Marriages and descendants of the other 4 children of John Jacob Reister are known---including other son, Christian, age 7 in 1752] Known: A “Jacob Rister” recorded in Orangeburgh Militia—Col John Fisher’s Regiment, Capt. Samuel Tolles’ Co,---14 June—13 Dec 1780 (Loyalists in Southern Campaign. Murtie June Clark) Believed: that this Jacob is the son of George Jacob Reister and Katherine Reimensperger. Known : Another Christian Rister—b. 1775. ( Many descendants are known.) Believed: that he is son of above Jacob and grandson of George Jacob Reister. Known: 1790 Census—Orangeburg Dist, Reister, Christian 1-1-5 (This is the Christian who was 7 in 1752) Roister, Jacob, Sr. 2-3-1 (Just below Christian & Simon Theus) Roister, Jacob, Jr. 2-1-4 (Just below Sr.) Believed: Roister, Jacob, Sr. = George Jacob Reister—with a new, younger wife & 3 young sons. Roister, Jacob, Jr. = son of George Jacob Reister & Katherine Reimensperger Believed: That the 3 young sons are Abraham and Frederick (who appear on 1800 census) and George Rister, b. 1790—who does not appear under own name until 1820 census. Does anyone know of any records—church, Bible, land, or ?—that would help me prove my believed connections? |
