My spouse works at the mill, and tells me that there's some talk of the mill closing. Is it that bad that they would just close down the mill? I find it hard to believe that they would let that happen. I'd like to hear from others, and get their thoughts.
Corporate headquarters announced that they needed to work toward unloading the entire containerboard division. This means all brown paper mills and conversion plants.
As far as I know there has been no closure announcement. Just a for sale sign. It is a good running mill with the highest efficiency of all Weyco brown paper mills. It also has high cost per ton machines mostly because of thier size. I think its got a few good years left. The recovery and pulp mill are newer. Lets hope someone will buy that wants a new machine in Albany.
Also I understand that we are the only ones that make bag paper for Weyerhaeuser.
