Wow Luke, well said. I have wanted to say that for years.. Another reason we aren't as good, though, is the way we go about playing. Our wonderful directors can teach us to play all day long, but it takes more than learning the notes on the page and being able to play them. It takes emotion. For any music to sound good, or better, it has to be felt. Mr. Norris told class of '08 that, and Mrs. Norris has always taught us that, but I think we have all forgotten. One or two people, even the whole senior class can't do it alone, it takes the entire band. If you can't get emotional about your music, you should learn. It makes for a wonderful experience and real MUSIC, not just a bunch of people playing notes on a page. LIVE YOUR MUSIC!! |
