Some 6 Nations Reading
Found this in today's WSJ Daily Fix blog... Few professional athletes like being second-guessed about their on-field decisions by fans, the press or, even, coaches. And even fewer take the time to explain themselves by writing a newspaper column. But that is exactly what English rugby superstar Jonny Wilkinson did. Mr. Wilkinson, who plays at fly-half for England, took pen to paper to explain some of the plays he made — or failed to make — during Saturday’s upset loss against Wales. “I know I was involved in some passages of play on Saturday which I wish I had executed differently,” Mr. Wilkinson writes in the Times of London. “Early on, I thought I directed the game quite well, but in the second half, I did a couple of things which put us under more pressure rather than less. The idea was right, but the execution wasn’t. The problem we had was that these mistakes snowballed.” Pats fans shouldn’t expect any such mea culpa from Tom Brady any time soon. Going by radio commentary it was supposed to be a brutal pass that led to Welsh try. Sounded like England completely buckled in the second half |

Wilkinson made, what the commentator called, "the worst pass of his entire career." A huge lumbering thing you might see in a sevens match. Pitiful. Ty |
