Message:   Malo ni,

I am a fan of Te Vaka. I have been trying to learn Tokelauan
and Tuvaluan in order to understand the music. I was a bit
disappointed to know that they had been here in Finland in
concert in 2000, but I hadn't known about them back then.

I have the CD "Te Vaka" and I am getting Nukukehe soon in the
mail soon, and soon all the rest.

I was just wondering why Opetaia pronounces the "s" in parts of the song Ika, Ika, where in other parts not. The word is
lamasasave that he pronounces, but "toso" is like "toho" in the same verse. I didn't find the word lamasasave in the Samoan dictionary - is it Tuvuluan? Why would the words be mixed like that.

Tokelau sounds like a special place:
Te mea te manaia
ko fenua fiafia

Another song I have questions about is "Siva Mai".
The last line of the verse in Samoan is something totally different than what is written in the CD insert. Anyone know what they are really singing there? It just goes too fast for
me and I am not used to Samoan.

And one more question: What does fakateletele mean?
The children sing it in "Te Namo". Googling it, all I get
is a blog in Tuvaluan and the treaty between New Zealand
and Tokelau.

Thanks,

William
