Message:		That is quite funny! It is said that the first voyagers to Tokelau settled in Fakaofo. While they were far out at sea, they could just see glimpses of land and as they got closer, the heads of the coconut palms appeared to be like the tail end of a leaf. TOKELAU was born! Toke (tail) lau (leaf). Tokelau is also a North wind known in the Pacific. It will be hilarious if you have sisters named Fakaofo, Nukunonu, Atafu & Olosega. I have always been curios about the name of your islands, not only because my name is Toke, but also because my older brother’s name is Lau. So I found this forum and thought I would be fun to writhe and see if anyone would know why the islands are name that. I’m sure it’s just a coincident but still a pretty funny one.
