Tie a bib around your neck and sharpen up your steak knife for an afternoon of surf or turf.
Lancaster West Rotary's annual New England Lobster Dinner will be from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Hunter Dodge Chrysler Jeep in the Lancaster Auto Mall.
"This is a fun, casual event," said Anne Aldrich, club president. "No speakers, no programs, no speeches - what more could you want? Just a great time for everyone."
Diners can choose a 20-ounce steak or a 1ΒΌ pound lobster, complete with all the trimmings, which include corn on the cob, coleslaw, garlic bread and a sumptuous selection of desserts.
"The lobster is flown in from Maine that morning," Aldrich said. "Our members drive to LAX and pick the lobster up and bring it here."
Last year, club members served about 800 guests, and Aldrich said they are planning for that many again this year.
No reserved seats or reservations are required, so people can come and go at their convenience for this casual affair, she said.
"Wear jeans and a T-shirt, come when you want, leave when you're done - stay all day," Aldrich said. "We serve the food in the mechanic's shop area where they fix the cars.
"We make it look completely different. Where else can you eat lobster or a huge steak for $25? And best of all - no speeches!"
Rotary is a service organization composed of businesspeople committed to "Service Above Self," which is the Rotary motto.
Lancaster West meets at noon Mondays at the J.P. Eliopulos Hellenic Center, 43404 30th St. West.
Proceeds from this fundraiser support a variety of causes, including the American Cancer Society, the Antelope Valley Committee on Aging Home Delivered Meals and the Antelope Valley Domestic Violence Shelter.
Tickets are $25 per person, including a choice of beer, wine, soft drinks or water.
Tickets are available at four locations: Hunter Dodge, 1130 Auto Mall Drive; AV Sports & Graphics, 42402 10th St. West, Suite A; Fashion Flowers, 1834 East Ave. J; and Currado Insurance, 43713 20th St. West, Suite 2.
