Apologies to all those people that couldn't post yesterday.
Bravenet have a habit of messing things up without any warning!!
They basically decided yesterday, when they launched their new look website, that they would start to enforce the limit on the number of posts we can have on the forum. We have been happily exceeding this limit for the last two years and nothing has ever been said or done.
The limit was 10,000 and we were at 153,000 yesterday!!
So, they blocked us.
I complained and they admitted to suddenly enforcing the limit. So they upgraded my "package" for free (ie. nothing to pay until I renew in Feb 2012) which then gave us a limit of 100,000 posts. But we still couldn't post as we were 53,000 posts over this new limit!
So this is where the Mods had to do some mass deleting - all of 2008 and the threads that were huge; namely 'WJ' and 'Word Assoc' threads but there were a handful of others which would have included photos. Sorry, but they had to be ruthless if we were to be up and running again.
More deletions will have to happen in the future, to get us below the 10,000 limit. The cost of the 100,000 limit is just way too much for me but at least I don't have to deal with that until February next year. We can bob along as we are, until nearer the time, when the mass cull will have to restart.
Thanks for the explanation, Kirsten. I must admit, I did wonder where everyone was, then panicked this morning when I tried to post (as usual, I thought it was me!!).
Bravenet are a bunch of wotsits, aren't they? I guess we'll have to remember to save everything we want to keep, virtually as soon as it's posted.
Thanks Kirsten for all your efforts with Bravenet over the past couple of days...
I agree with MargW, and would certainly make a contribution to the cost of running this Forum, if you decide to upgrade - when the time comes.
This Forum is a 'Lee Life Line' for so many of us, and we certainly wouldn't want to lose it, or have you take on extra expense to run it...
Thanks again Kirsten, for continuing to manage this lovely Forum...
Can I add my thanks to you Kirsten for sorting out the latest problem. We do appreciate it. I would be lost without the forum. Do let us all know if a contribution is required.
