Wow! I will be smiling for days.
Maggie and I had our first trip up to LB today. We decided to Stage door ( the "as long as it takes" method!) Must warn you all that standing by the backnentrance to the Coal Hole Pub where the stage door is proved to be extremely smokey and smelly. By the time Lee came along we must have smelled like yesterday's barbecue!!
After about 45 mins I suddenly spied a vision in a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up (gulp) coming down the steps from the Strand. I boldly strode over and said hello and he replied hello as he does making it seem that he is really pleased to see you. But then I couldn't think of anything sensible to say. Luckily Maggie helped me out & I recovered myself. We asked him about the TV and he said he couldn't tell us what it was but it would be shown in September. We also asked about the new album and he said the summer release date was a best case scenario with next spring being still a possibility.
He then asked if in would like a photo with him and I tried to cooly say yes without squeaking. I can still feel his hand on my back! After Maggie had taken it (thank you x100 Maggie) he then said you had better check it has come out.
Finally he asked if we were seeing the show and when we said we were he said " This one is for you two" Aaaaaaagh!!!!!!!
He couldn't have been more lovely. I have to say that he is more beautiful and more delightful every time I meet him.
He was brilliant as Emmett. The role really suits him I feel. Loved the changing on stage and the dancing at the end too. He looks as if he is enjoying it every bit as much as the audience. I preferred the Savoy to the AV as it feels more intimate. Anyone who hasn't seen the show is in for a treat. It is very funny and Lee is looking gorgeous in it.
(Still smiling......)
OMG Cassie!!!! Right now I can barely focus on anything except what those sunglasses are doing to his shirt!!! but how gorgeous did he look!!!
So glad you had a good day, nice and sunny too by the look of it. Thanks for the info about SD although it sounds like there is not much anyone can do about the smoke. It sounds like he's settling nicely. How lovely of him to talk to you. Thanks for posting.
Cassie thanks so much for your lovely review and
photos, I agree Lee does seem to be enjoying
himself as Emmett. I absolutely loved it when
I was there on Monday, if I didn't live so far away
I would go every week.
It is so nice when reviews are put on the forum.
especially for the fans that cannot get to see
the show,
Wow, Cassie, what fab photos! He looks so relaxed and gorgeous!
We 'discovered' the smelly area at the back of the pub when we went to see Denise a couple of months back. We thought the chip pan had caught fire! It is rather Yuck. However, I'm sure we will all grow to love it over the next few months!
Ooh, the hand on the back - I remember it well!
Thanks for the info about the TV programme. We forgot all about that on Monday. We almost forgot how to speak without dribbling - he has that effect, doesn't he?
Thanks Cassie - a lovely review.
Glad you had a nice day too, and thanks for sharing those gorgeous pics of Lee
I've been sitting in front of my 'pooter' screen for ages, just gazing at his face, CURLS, white shirt and those shades worn in such a sexy fashion, and thinking to myself, this lovely man gets more stunning every time I see him!...
Thanks Cassie for the lovely review & fab pics, he looks georgeous. As Maggie mentioned its so nice when reviews are put on the forum, for us fans that cannot get to see the show.
OMG you guys......
Cassie thank you so much for your review and
photos. Lee looks happy & relaxed,
I am glad you enjoyed the show.
Lee is a fantastic Emmett isn't he.
Wow Cassie. Thanks so much for your fabulous review and the drop dead beautiful pics. Let's hope the sun keeps shining for his entire run. What a good job those shades were on the heavy side and er, dislodged his shirt
He is made for the role isn't he....perfect in every way.
So glad you had such a great time and that you had a pic with him. Whatever you were wearing yesterday, don't wash it ever again. DNA on the back of it, phew
Hope to see you there soon
Glad you liked the pics though I have to say, they don't do him justice. He looked amazing before the show....I used the word vision quite correctly. That was why I lost the plot momentarily. Forgot to mention the frayed jeans and the fact that he wasn't quite a thin as the last time I saw him. He also seemed excited about his first TV acting role plus he explained at length about adding orchestral parts to the tracks for the album. To be honest he could have been saying anything!!! I was hanging on his every word but can't remember exact details! Funny that.
How good is it to see stage door photos again! Especially in the daylight and in the summer!!!! That white shirt!!!! Phew!!! Sunglasses!! Hands!! Goodness me!!!
Reviews about him just get better and better, well let's face it, HE just gets better and better. Going tomorrow and I am beyond excited, I am not going to sleep much tonight.
Thank you Cassie for the review and wonderful pics.
Agree about shirt, sunglasses and what they are doing to the shirt, and hands
OMG Cassie, your comment about the photos not doing him justice is doing bad things to me. I'm there on my own tomorrow and I'm feeling that I could do with some support to collapse into when he arrives! I've been a wreck for days now!
Just a few memories of my own to add to Cassie's. First of all really proud of the splendid picture I took (The first one) as I am not the worlds best photographer mind you the subject helped. ! Made me laught when he asked if I would like to check if it had come out (did he know)
He asked if I would like one as well, but I declined as hate having my photo taken , I said thanks but can I have a hug instead ? bless the man he said of course and obliged.
He was looking very handsome very "Mr Darcy" in his white shirt, and it was white, Den must be good at washing !!!!!!
He was very excited about his first strait T.V. acting part and his new recording.
I am not overly keen on Legally Blonde but he playes his part in it superbly so I know doubt will get to love it !would have liked for him to have had a decent song to sing.
All in all we had a fab. day it never afils to impress just how beatiful he is both in looks and personality.
There is a lovely twitter picture of Lee at the
Stage Door today with two young fans, twitter name
is jessgrubb1. Sorry I don't know how to do a link
to it.
He was looking very very good in person too. Brain is Mead-mushed but I am sure he turned up in a shirt and then changed into the White T after the matinee. And the sight of him racing up the stairs to catch up with 'Warner' will stay with me for some time. Phew!!
Definitely meadmushed Asher . He had white t-shirt on when he first came except had his jacket on as well. Glad you made it home ok in body if not in mind. The sight of him going up those stairs two at a time will live in my memory too.
Was good to meet up with jazzylou at SD. Enjoyed the show. Thought Lee was fab. Slight glimpse of tighty-whiteys although better sighting was enjoyed by someone who may prefer to remain nameless . Understudy on for Susan and she said she was very nervous as was first time with Lee but she was excellent. First time at LB so can't compare to other performances.
Oops! Love the new banners Kirsten and PKP
It was lovely to see you all too. Thanks again for allowing a stray lonely fan to join your party
I missed out on staying for the SD after, silly me, had plenty of time but I assumed he would't come out
I want to see the show again to get a different opinion of it. My fundamental mistake was going just to see Lee which, I have to admit, did spoil the whole show a little for me. His Emmett was adorable and he's very loveable in the show and his acting was the best i've seen it. He definitely suits the part.
I had no idea of the story and didn't know what to expect but I was expecting something different (if that makes sense).
The best scene for me was 'take it like a man' but no doubt most of us will be saying that once we've seen it.
I'm sure i'll see it differently next time. Its a good show.
For people unfamiliar with the show, and who want to familiarise themselves with it, the 2008 MTV broadcast of the Broadway production is on youtube (in several parts). It's well worth a watch.
By coincidence or what!! yesterday they showed here in Oz on foxtel(which is similiar i believe to Sky,Austar in the uk)LEGALLY BLONDE - the Movie- starring Reese Witherspoon as Elle, i hadn't seen it before, so "The Bend & Snap"(that DVO used to mention in her Tweets) and Lee taking part in a pet dog competition all makes sense now!!
i enjoyed watching the movie, but wish they had more singing in it,had only the one which was when they Bend & snapped!
I have watched the youtube/mtv production more than once and I really like it.
Although the musical leaves out three characters, I don't think it hurts at all. I rather like the way the musical changed things around.
sigh. How I wish I be there to see Lee in person. Thank you, ladies, very much for all the reviews.
Just come back from holiday near London went to see LB really enjoyed it Lee was great in the part and gorgeous to look at,I was in seat 1 and had the most glorious view of ROTY in his tighty whites and I was only 5 rows from the front,if I lived nearer I would be there every week
I paid my second visit to LB last night. Carley was Elle instead of Susan, as apparently the American boss was in and wanted to see her as she's taking over from Susan very soon.
It was unfortunate, in that case, that she had a wardrobe malfunction! In the scene where she, Emmett and Paulette 'rescue' the bulldog, she rushed on (having had a very quick costume change), still fiddling with the back of her dress and pulling on a very short jacket. All was revealed - almost literally - when she turned, and you could see the back of the dress completely unzipped. She got through that scene, but the next one was the all singing, all dancing finale to Act One, which incorporated several twirls with back to the audience. She didn't bat an eyelid and carried on regardless. At one point Lee had a go at trying to help her (as did one or two other cast members when the opportunity presented itself), but the zip was firmly stuck or broken!
In the short time that he's been in the role, Lee has come on in leaps and bounds (we had a very nice view of the Roty too ).
I don't post very often, but just wanted to say thanks for that review and the gorgeous photos Cassie.
Joan just summed it up - - - 'summertime and Lee in a white shirt and sunglasses' mmmmmmm
