Better life through Kenpo

Just a thought from the book of Zen

'The Oxen are slow, but the Earth is patient'

I find that saying is applicable to me as I find myself wanting more and more...but sometimes to quickly.

Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Kenpo....

Re: Better life through Kenpo

One thing about kenpo....it is definetly something to not get in a hurry about. I can't process the information fast enough. Sometimes it seems it would be better to work on one technique for a six month period before trying to learn another one. We will obviously never master a technique completely. We can always improve something. But you are right, the more kenpo you eat, the hungrier you get! See ya in class! Salute!

Re: Better life through Kenpo

What is the book of zen?
Just wondering.

Re: Re: Better life through Kenpo

Hi Liz,

Good question and I'll try to give you a good answer.

Zen is a teaching or belief related to Buddhism, most commonly known as Zen Buddhism or the warrior religion.

Zen Masters pass down the teachings to their students, they in turn become teachers and so on.

Zen addresses Philosophy, religion and countless generations of those teachings.

Additionally you can find out more about Zen in several books, "Bushido, The way of the Warrior" and "The Book of the Five Rings" by Miyamoto Musashi.

Hope this helps...

PS - One last book, "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu

Re: Re: Re: Better life through Kenpo

So, is it like a religion? Are you a (thinks) zenist?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Better life through Kenpo

Liz,

Zen is an offshoot of the Buddahist belief, more taliored to the warrior's interpertation.

It is a belief or a spiritual adptation of that belief.

I have studied it for many years...but am a Southern Baptist by raising and choice.

Hope this helps,

Terry
