Re: Itazuke AFB 1952 53

My father was stationed at Itazuke from 1948-1952. Seems to me we called the location Camp Akota, or something like that. He was a tech sgt. in the food service--don't recall what unit, and unfortunately, he passed away two years ago. His name was Sgt. Glen M. Litherland. We were allowed to join him for the last year of his assignment and lived, I think, at this Camp Akota (Spelling). I was 6-7, and my brother was 4-5 yrs. old. We had a great time there and used to go to the forbidden beach against my parents orders because of live munitions.
It really is a shame I didn't have the equipment to find this web site before my father passed away.
