this is a very complex matter
i know the trust needs money however iam not quite sure how much this charge would generate
looking at our own group say 10-15 mew member per year
£250-325 per year not very much
considering that it can cost up to £200 per weekend for a group of volunteers to visit a property
also i understand that the volunteers have running cost
are just a few examples of cost that the trust has to meet
this must be balanced with the amount of work that the volunteers do, and the cost this would be if outside contractor were involved.
i suspect that the work would not be done.
also there is the possibility of larger ecological damage such as invasive species like rhododdendron and erosion in upland environments (path maintence ect)if volunteers did not do this work, i suspect many commercial contractors would not find this work cost effictive
so here the delimma
do we pay for the privlege of doing conservation work or not
i know the trusts needs cash but getting it from volunteers doesn,t seem to be the way forward.
has anybody else got any ideas on this
