Re: Re served A-6-44 MarvKiley Looking for any who served in South Korea HAWK Battery A-6-44
The base and Hawk site was way out but I enjoyed my time there. I grew up in the country in Washington state so I enjoy isolation. It was really cold in the winter riding in the 2 1/2 ton to the site and sometimes to Osan A.F. base to check out records from the library. The high light of the week was movie night.

I served in A-6-44 in 69/70. I also spent 64/65 in c-2-71 and 3 year tour in Okinawa.
I guess I followed Chuck Von Cannon and was a 24d40. 2 of the guys in A@S were students of mine at School Support Command.SFC McGreager was the Chief. Life was fairly easy for me with a good crew that I had. I ran the test shop and had a good young man that took care of the books.
I have failing memory, but remember I had asked from Southern site instead of the previous site near the DMZ

Roger, I was A/6/44 Hawk Radar Tech 71-72, I would love some of your pics of the camp and tac site if you have them. We were a fascinating group of techies for our time, at least that was how I felt. Anything I can do to help please let me know!

Steve.....
I left A-6-44 at the end of May 1969. when I left there was an E-7 who took over from me as section Chief of the missile maintenance personnel, I believe his last name was Petch. We had one young missile tech transferred from C-6-44 into our section at A-6-44, his last name was DeArmey as I recall. He was a very nice young man. Did you run into Petch or DeArmey when you came up to A-6-44?
Steve are you going to attend next years HAWK reunion in Huntsville Alabama? If so I look forward to meeting you. One of the fellows I served with at A-6-44, Dick Baker, will be attending as well. When I was section chief in the missiles Dick was my assistant section chief.

I served in A-6-44 as a 24D, 69-70. SFC Petsch was the NCOIC. Other members of the A&S section were Specialists DeArmy, Marcheson, LaRock, Taylor, Royal, Bailey and Quinones. Still connected with Brian Marcheson and Tim DeArmy on FB and still have the 69 yearbook.

Hello Stephen....
I served with DeArmy and Petch for a time at A-6-44. Petch replaced me as the Section Chief when he came into A-6-44. I met Petch at Ft. Bliss a few months before I went overseas to A-6-44. He was part of an inspection team and evaluated us at the missile/launcher school. I worked missile/launcher maintenance at the school after graduating from HAWK missile/launcher schooling for a few months. I would love to get back in contact with DeArmy he was a great guy to have served with. Next time you contact him please tell him I said hello.

Stephen....
I have just a couple as the South Korean Air Force guards at the main gate would not allow me to shoot photos of the site. They are very security conscious. I did get a photo of across the bay looking east to the US Army Camp
Howard and I did get a photo with one of the Main gate guards, they look like kids. I guess we did to back in our day.
I will try to contact DeArmey and thanks for the info on him.
