Maritime safety management

I’ve been researching roles in maritime safety management and came across the position of Designated Person Ashore, I’m interested in understanding the qualifications, experience, and steps needed to enter this field. Any guidance on the right training or certifications would be appreciated!

Re: Maritime safety management

Most DPAs have a strong background in maritime safety, compliance, or engineering. Essential qualifications include ISM Code training and knowledge of safety management systems. Gaining experience on vessels or in marine operations is highly recommended, as practical knowledge how to become Designated person ashore. Some training programs offer specialized courses tailored for DPAs, covering emergency response, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
