Can you still open a European offshore account remotely?
I remember there were banks in places like Latvia or Bulgaria that allowed remote offshore account opening. But with all the new regulations, is it still possible to open one without flying out there?
Re: Can you still open a European offshore account remotely?
Yes, but it’s become more limited and much more about compliance now. Banks in some jurisdictions do offer remote onboarding, but they require detailed due diligence: notarized documents, proof of business activity, and even live video interviews. That said, finding the current list of banks that still allow this is tricky unless you check resources like Offshore Banking. Members there post updates on banks that have recently closed their doors to foreigners, and which ones are actively taking applications.
