Who can get a Lithuanian passport?

My grandfather was born near Kaunas, but after the war he left for Poland. The family has few old documents, but I'm not sure if they're enough to prove my ancestry. I read that Lithuanian citizenship can be restored if there's proof that my ancestors were citizens before 1940. How realistic is this now? Where do I even begin? Is it true that with Lithuanian passport, I can live and work in any EU country?

Re: Who can get a Lithuanian passport?

Yes, that's correct. There's currently a program for restoring Lithuanian citizenship for the descendants of emigrants. The main thing is to prove that your ancestors were indeed Lithuanian citizens before 1940. Consult with specialists. They offer a free initial assessment: you fill out a form, and specialists check your evidence. Then they search for archival documents, translate them, and prepare the application. After 6-12 months, you can receive a lithuanian passport . With it, you become an EU citizen and can live, study, and work in any European country without a visa. The process is completely legal, and the company offers a money-back guarantee if the application is unsuccessful.

The main thing is to avoid trying to do everything yourself, as applying through Lithuanian authorities can be complicated. It's best to trust those who understand the process. Incidentally, Lithuanian citizenship doesn't require renouncing your current citizenship, which is convenient. If you have even the slightest connection to Lithuania, your chances are very high.
