Swans of Buncrana/Killead

I have emailed Glenavy several times without reply re the following;
Birthdays and Bazaar Book and Quotation Calendar, 1915
mentions Thomas Swan, The Lodge, Buncrana. and

Glenavy History - Killead Presbyterian Church
... Killead Presbyterian church to the rear. These memorials read: In memory of William Swan who departed this life the (?) th Feby 1795, aged 76

I have been trying to get the connection of Thomas Swan, Buncrana to Killead, are there any records that would tell me who his father was please? I am trying to research these Swans.

Re: Swans of Buncrana/Killead

You are no doubt aware of this information:

John Swan, Killealy, Killead appears in the Griffith valuation records 1860's. PRONI should have other valuation records for this property.

The 1850s census mentions Swans in the townland of Ballymacilhoyle, Killead - Anne (nee Mulholland), her children and her mother.

There is a will in PRONI of a Hugh Swan, Buncrana who died 21 -02 - 1884 and also a will of a Samuel McKeague in 1901 that has Thomas Swan, merchant, Buncrana as an executor.

There is a death reference to a Robert Swan and links to Killead area in the Belfast newsletter 13th July 1874.

There is a death reference in the same paper on 5th September 1896 re Isabella, the wife of Thomas Swan at The Lodge, Buncrana.

Henry Percival Swan may well have been the son of the above Thomas Swan. Thomas Swan was a miller.

In my experience most people who made donations to these books had some local connection with the local area or church.

Re: Swans of Buncrana/Killead

Yes, I have all those incl. H P Swan etc right up to present time, I have Thomas and Isabella etc, what I'm trying to find is his connection back in time... I have the 3 Swan inscriptions from Killead etc but it is Thomas' link I need. He must indeed have had some local connection with the local area or church, but what?

Thank you very much for your reply!
