Matthew Phibbs Hanged 1861 Ballymote

Hi, looking into my Phibbs family line,I came across Matthew Phibbs who was hanged 1861 for the brutal murder of 3 people. Given the name and location, it looks like there may be a connection, I just can't find it.
His father owned a grocer/drapery shop (Slater's Dir 1846) and died around 1849.

Matthew was one of 5 children and, at the time of the murders, at least Matthew and his mother lived in Ballymote (All from newspaper reports

Does anyone know his parentage or possible ancestry? Anything at all about him?
Any information at all will be appreciated.
Kind regards

Location: Derry (Nth of Ire)
