"So Who Do You Think Will Win" - BBC America Forum

WOW, if this is a taste of things to come, it could get exciting! - log onto BBC America's ADWD forum under the heading "So Who Do You Think Will Win" - VERY mixed feelings from people - from the show to "miss", to talking about the "blubbing" winner and talk of Lee and DVO knowing each other beforehand OUCH! There are also thankfully a few people gushing about seeing the London Show and one person who even got a kiss off Lee. I've just registered so I can join in at some point - might see Ringer over there -enjoy!

Re: "So Who Do You Think Will Win" - BBC America Forum

Oh yes I noticed that last week Brenda. One poster has certainly got it in for Denise considering that's all they post about!

Re: "So Who Do You Think Will Win" - BBC America Forum

Chrissi, I noticed the same thing! No matter what else is being discussed, this one poster always has to make it about DVO, in some negative way. It's as if nothing else is going on in these shows LOL.

Re: "So Who Do You Think Will Win" - BBC America Forum

I know it really is quite pathetic!

Re: "So Who Do You Think Will Win" - BBC America Forum

It's really only one poster who seems to dislike Denise and is trying to cause trouble. Hopefully everyone will ignore his/her pathetic rants! It will be interesting to see how new viewers react to the contestants once the live shows start.

Re: "So Who Do You Think Will Win" - BBC America Forum

There's a poster on DS* with a similar irrational dislike of Denise. It could be the same person.

*DS = Digital Spy

Re: "So Who Do You Think Will Win" - BBC America Forum

I wonder if our website will gt a few extra hits once people in the US get to appreciate our man!

Re: "So Who Do You Think Will Win" - BBC America Forum

hey now that is odd i do not understand this?

Re: "So Who Do You Think Will Win" - BBC America Forum

Have visited this site recently and the comments haven't got any better about Lee and Denise - mainly Denise and that if Lee is out with her, he should put a bag over his head so no-one will link him with her! I also read something about Lee along the lines of "nice but dim" and "lovely to look at but not much upstairs"!!!

Re: "So Who Do You Think Will Win" - BBC America Forum

It's just the same troll (pretending to be about three people) who is causing trouble. She really is pathetic!

Re: "So Who Do You Think Will Win" - BBC America Forum

Brenda, pay no mind to those posters. They are trolls and all they have ever done is post nasty, scurrilous rants about DVO and Lee. They don't even join in discussions about the series, they just rant about her ad nauseum. Unfortunately the BBCA outsources the administration of their forums to an outside company which doesn't do a good job at all. There's a post from a Belgian escort agency on that forum that's never been removed!

Re: "So Who Do You Think Will Win" - BBC America Forum

"nice but dim" and "lovely to look at but not much upstairs"!!! Lee?!? He may not be Einstein but he has a great deal of emotional intelligence which counts for more in my book! As well as that he's an intelligent and astute performer which will stand him in good stead!

Re: "So Who Do You Think Will Win" - BBC America Forum

Thanks for putting my mind at rest PKP and Johartuk - they won't be joining the forum then!!! Some really nasty people about.

Re: "So Who Do You Think Will Win" - BBC America Forum

He may not be the most chatty person off stage but that doesn't mean he's not intelligent. Some people are openly expressive, others are thinkers but don't say much.
And even if he was "dim", from what we've seen of his contributions to charity and his kindess to his fans, he's got a huge heart and isn't that more important than a razor tongue and a sharp brain?

Re: "So Who Do You Think Will Win" - BBC America Forum

There's nothing stupid or dim about Lee. He may not be a University graduate or particularly intellectual or academically minded person, but that doesn't make him stupid or dim. He posesses a natural and instinctive talent for performing, and his skill as an interpreter of lyrics has been demonstrated on many occasions. He has a good heart and great strength of character. He remains delightfully down-to-earth and un-starry (somehow, I can't imagine Lee ever stamping his foot and yelling "Don't you know who I am?" or demanding that his chocolate buttons are refrigerated for exactly 53 minutes before being served to him on a silver tray ).

Madam Troll highlights her own stupidity with her criticism of Lee's intelligence, and in so doing, misses completely all the facets of his character which make him such a unique and special individual.

Re: "So Who Do You Think Will Win" - BBC America Forum

Agrree with Jo. Oh boy how little do they know him how wrong can people be. Lee is nothing of the kind he is bright and very intelligent has a great knowledge on so many subjects we know as we were at the recieving end of a very long and varied conversation with him and hubby. He is just shy and does not like talking much about himself nor does he like interrupting people when they talk, but he is learning fast. Shame these i.....s put comments like that not nice or good for him. We miss him. Course should end soon. Will be lovely to have him and Denise back in England

Re: "So Who Do You Think Will Win" - BBC America Forum

"Wisdom is the reward for a lifetime of listening ... when you'd have preferred to talk."

— D.J. Kaufman

Lee fascinates me because he is quiet. Yes, he's shy but I think he's a listener and a thinker and this appears as a very gentle manner, so I'll defend him to anyone who thinks he's not got personality just 'cos he isn't 'in yer face'!

The older I get (and the wiser - I hope) I'm tending towards this type of person after years of arrogance, big egos, and showy personalities (they all hide insecurities really)

There's another great quote:

Big Ego's have Little Ears...

I think Lee is quite the opposite

Re: "So Who Do You Think Will Win" - BBC America Forum

I'm afraid it's a common assumption that quiet, shy people are dim or weird because they don't speak up! And why is it that people believe being louder when you say something will make you sound smarter? Volume=IQ?

One of my clients worked on a movie with an actor who had that same reputation of being dim because he was quiet and shy. And because he had done one of those iconic "dude" roles early on in his career. He turned out to be very bright and extremely well-read, but almost pathologically shy until he became comfortable with new people. It didn't stop him from being generous, kind, and considerate to everyone he worked with (he's well known for being extremely generous with his stunt crew, understanding full well the risks they take on his behalf).

Trolls will say anything because they enjoy being abusive, it's their stock in trade. These people don't know Lee or Denise, but like to force their opinions on others as if they were somehow able to uncover terrible truths about them that nobody else has figured out through their own careful reading of the tabloids! I find it hilarious these people keep insisting that Denise has pulled the wool over everyone's eyes by manipulating the media, when they themselves are relying on tabloids for their "facts". That's like getting medical advice from doctor shows on the telly!

Re: "So Who Do You Think Will Win" - BBC America Forum

There are plenty University Graduates who come across as "a bit dim" Jo!

I always think there is a huge difference between being clever and being intelligent. A lot of clever people can be really stupid when it comes to common sense, or awareness of others.

Also, if Lee is "dim" because of is shy and unassuming manner then by the poster's own standards Denise must have a greater IQ because she is not a quiet person. They are more likely to be on the same level as each other in reality.

Re: "So Who Do You Think Will Win" - BBC America Forum

I was thinking exactly the same Jo. Bill Kenwright summed it up exactly when he praised Lee for how he interpreted lyrics on ADWD, and do you remember the speech he gave at the Newcomer Awards (I think) when he said "week after week we threw every song we could think of at him". You can't be "dim" and be that good!!! I also agree with what you said about some University Graduates Liz J. I know a few intellectual graduates with no common sense at all!!!
