Although his Emmett in LB is lovely, it doesn't have the 'wow' factor for me of Lee's scenes in Wicked. I'd be gripping my hands in anticipation - whereas in LB, for me it's more a case of 'oh, there he is.' In Wicked, I couldn't take my eyes off him, regardless of whatever else was happening on stage, whereas in LB I've actually not noticed him a few times!!!
In fairness, Emmett isn't supposed to be a 'wow' role! He's supposed to be a normal bloke who behaves relatively normally throughout the show. Whereas Fiyero is a fairytale prince in tight breeches who leaps about (in DTL) and swings on a rope at one point. 'Wicked' is big on spectacle, LB isn't. The fact that Lee is capable of doing both types of show is testament to his versatility.
Jo, you are so right. Thank you for posting such a sensible reply. I apologise for my two WJ mates lowering the tone
I thought Lee brought a Shakespearian elegance to the role and I always found the ladder scene very interesting from the classical positioning he adopted on it. I was entranced by the story he managed to convey by his stance and facial expression.
PKP...I thought you said incorruptable...there for a minute LOL!
Now having looked up your word (incorrigible) in the dictionary, I realise you are correct...
We are hopeless incurables, beyond correction, reform or alteration LOL! - well that's as far as this particular 'Art Form' with 'Shakespearean Elegance' adorning said ladder singing DTL is concerned!!!...
and at our age, I don't think we have the energy or inclination to change the said status quo!
Someone once said 'It's like growing old disgracefully'!
WOW Thank you Graziellla what a fabulous treat. A Liz I have to agree that the costumes in Joseph & Wicked had a certain appeal I love love love Lee as Emmett.
Of course we could teach Elle a thing or two about how a well fitted garment would suit Emmett better but by the end of the show you just know that with Elle's sense of fashion & style she will be experimenting with Emmett quiet a bit.
Now let me go back to Fiyero for a bit of studying of my own.
I am totally addicted to this. As well as the slow turn and ladder I also particularl love
the "swaying and swooping" moves
sneaking behind the statue
his hand on Galinda'a hip and "the look"
well, the whole thing is great.
DTL always seemed to be over so quickly, it's wonderful to have this vid and be able to watch it over and over and over and.......
Its a Youtube video you should have no probem. Strange. Forced myself to play it again. No problem. Pause it and let it buffer and you should have no problem. As far as movie not found - its not a movie so I have no idea
Fiyero's 'Swinging and Sweeping' sorry!...'Dancing Through Life'
still performing perfectly for me this morning!!!
Have to say, he was a 'tad' out of breath...after the fourth replay though!...
Fabulous find, thank you so much. I'd forgotten just how much I enjoyed Lee as Fiyero - even watching it on a video makes my tummy jump, he looks simply amazing.
It plays perfectly on my home pc but when I click on link on my iPhone, that's when I get message that YouTube "cannot load movie" which is a real shame as I would love to be able to watch this at anytime. Also I can't find it on YouTube by searching for it by the title.
Thanks Jo that has worked playing through then replay thank you so much it is so annoying when it stops and always at a crucial moment when he is about to turn
Totallty - You can search for it simply by typing Lee Mead in the Youtube search box and then then on the left there is a Filter and Expolore drop down pick this week (next week it will be this month) it will then show up. Then add it to your favorites.
