Whats On Stage Nominations

Nominations for the whatsonstage awards has now
started, there is a link to it on the Lovelees
site, perhaps someone can put it on here as I
am afraid I don't know how to do it.

Re: Whats On Stage Nominations

I assume this is the link you mean, Maggiemay? It's just nominations at this stage, isn't it, not actual voting?

Re: Whats On Stage Nominations

Thanks Maggiemay.

Nominations yes but if we don't nominate Lee he wont be up to be voted for. I've done mine.

Re: Whats On Stage Nominations

Yes, everyone please fill out a nomination. Stephen A. has already retweeted two tweets to him nominating him for takeover role as Emmett. Lee was a wonderful Emmett and should be nominated.

Re: Whats On Stage Nominations

Thanks A/ Liz for the link, i've just done mine.

Re: Whats On Stage Nominations

Thanks A/Liz do I vote for best actor in musical and do I have to put LB sorry I am so thick

Re: Whats On Stage Nominations

Acer,

The only category Lee is eligible for is 'Best Takeover in a Role' for his run as Emmett in Legally Blonde.

For most of the other categories listed, you can only nominate performers in shows which opened between 1 January 2011 and 30 November 2011. That means in the 'Best Actor in a Musical' category, you can only nominate a performer if the musical they are (or were) in opened during that time. Legally Blonde officially opened in January 2010 so wouldn't count.

Hope that helps!

Re: Whats On Stage Nominations

Thanks Greycat that does help, isn't it awful when one is thick

Re: Whats On Stage Nominations

Just bringing this to the top. Lee really deserves
to get nominated for his role as Emmett as he
was so brilliant.

Does anyone know the date the voting finishes
for the nominations only I cannot see it mentioned
on the whatonstage voting page.

Re: Whats On Stage Nominations

Maggiemay,

When I added my nominations, I got a message which said "We will be compiling all of the suggestions and the final shortlists will be published on Friday 2 December 2011, ready for you to start voting from that afternoon.

I think nominations are open at least until 30 November which is the latest date by which a show must open in order to be eligible. So lots of time to nominate yet!

I hope Lee will make the short-list. He is too polite to use Twitter to ask people to vote for him but many other performers are not so retiring! I've seen quite a few actors twweting about the awards over the last day or so.

Re: Whats On Stage Nominations

Thanks Greycat, I looked for the closing date but couldn't find it. I have already voted for
Lee but a few of my friends are going to vote for
him as well.

I was thinking the same about wishing Lee would
promote himself on twitter, but I cannot ever see
him doing that, as you say it is not Lee's style.

Mind you perhaps Lee's fans who are on twitter
could tweet on his behalf.

Re: Whats On Stage Nominations

I just have, Maggiemay (tweeted, that is).

Re: Whats On Stage Nominations

Thats brilliant, Another Liz.

Re: Whats On Stage Nominations

Just bringing this up to remind everyone to nominate Lee in takeover role for Legally Blonde.

Re: Whats On Stage Nominations

Have just nominated Lee

Re: Whats On Stage Nominations

Just bringing this back up. I think the voting
for nominating finishes the end of this month.

Re: Whats On Stage Nominations

Just bringing this back up as I think the voting
for nominations finishes tomorrow.

Re: Whats On Stage Nominations

Thanks for the reminder. Have voted

Re: Whats On Stage Nominations

I've just got a WOS newsletter with the award noms (they were announced today). Lee didn't make the short-list for best takeover. The shortlist is:-

Alex Gaumond - We Will Rock You
Alfie Boe - Les Mis
Kimberley Walsh - Shrek
Matt Lucas - Les Mis
Susan McFadden - Legally Blonde
Tara Fitzgerald - Broken Glass

A good list (and about what I expected) apart from Kimberley Walsh. I would have swapped her for Lee and also included Carley Stenson on the list.

Re: Whats On Stage Nominations

For anyone interested, here is the full list of nominees and how to vote:

It's a shame that Lee didn't make the short-list but the competition is tough!
