OOOOoooooh I thought I'd come on here and the place be buzzing about the ball?! Obviously not, well I've raided my piggy bank (as NOT a daddy's little rich girl and neither are my partners-in-crime) but we Shall go to the ball...
just got to find that pesky pumpkin to get a carriage sorted out!
Thanks for the photos Joan, sounds like you had a great time. Did you manage
to speak to Lee and get any information about his plans. Sorry to be
nosy but it seems ages since the Guildford concert and I am
getting withdrawal symptons.
Maggiemay, some Loppies may have more definite information if they managed to speak to Lee but my guess is that he will be heading back to the US very soon - maybe tomorrow. He is supposed to be out there for 10 weeks with a couple of visits home and this visit has already lasted a week! We'll know that's what's happened if his Twitter goes quiet again for a while
Reviews are coming, and some photos I hope. I'm a bit late as after getting home at 4 yesterday I had to go straight out for my mums delayed birthday do (her birthday was friday!). She bought me my ballgown for my birthday 2 weeks ago, so I had to show her a good time last night, and now I have the head to prove it!!
I think this was his setlist, it altered as he went along, tailoring it for the people on the dancefloor to carry on dancing! There were alot of loved up couples and they were enjoying smooching to some of the numbers:
THe Garden
Better
Music of the Night
Close Every Door
Falling Slowly
then we had a choice of ADWD or I Believe - we voted for Stevie!
Then I think Anthem
and finally a very tender rendition of Bring Him Home
The Master of Ceremonies did have to call for quiet for the last tune as Lee was worried no one would hear!
I think there were about 500 hundred in the most deliciously decked out ballroom with flowers, feathers, crystals and candles, probably about 100 on the dance floor and the rest sat at tables, but they were nattering rather loudly. This didn't spoil it for us girls who sauntered down to the front of the stage, but those sitting listening at the tables wanted to be able to hear our man do his thang!
Lee was going to exit the Ball quick smartish but a PiC asked him for a photo and he asked her to 'join him outside!'
Well, we didn't need asking twice, so we snaked through the Ballroom to the champagne reception room. He kept getting accosted for hugs by the likes of Lorraine Chase, but eventually made it out, turned round to see a whole group of us in our finery had taken up his request. He was utterly lovely and we got some great photos, think they're being de-red-eyed by our most fabulous Punkinpuss as we speak (well maybe not literally as she's on New York time!)
Our time was cut short though by a rather avicious woman, who's rudeness shocked us all into silence, but Lee ever the gracious followed her and threw back over his shoulder: 'Go drink the free wine and enjoy!' (Lee - it wasn't exactly free LOL!!)
The food was lovely:
spicy fish dish for starters
succelent duck breast for main
and a chocolate thing escorted in by sparklers!
We had lots of champers, white and red wine and probably too much caffeine as we were us chattering till nearly 4am. Luckily Joan and I had an upgraded room to a suite, so there was plenty of space for the gang to come back and spread out, I even found a sonked out Cinders on my bed!!
After 3 hours of sleep my bedroom buddie was full of the joys of spring.... I was not, and had to order more sleep to feel even slightly human! Thanks to a late check out the gang descended again for goodbyes and then we all had to pack away our glass slippers and catch carriages back to normal life,
Thanks Petrus your review of the night is so much better than I could do.
This Cinders was well & truly MeadMushed.
Especially after a couple of glasses of champagne & an invitation from the man himself to meet him outside ( well in the champagne reception area )
Thanks Petrus for telling us about your evening, (and Joan for the photos), it sounds fantastic and, as I said on Jazzy's post, you all look really lovely. Have kicked myself a few times for not getting a ticket .
I hope the didn't put in an appearance .
Hope your Mum had a lovely birthday too.
There is a nice blog about the Lady Taveners Ball from a lady
who was there from Style Moguls Image Consultancy, twitter name
@StyleMoguls, they donated one of the prizes. There is a small
mention of Lee, she says. "and for dessert - Lee Mead and his
band, their performance was amazing". Lovely to see that in
her blog I thought.
Sorry I'm a bit in late posting, but many thanks to everyone, for all your reviews, pics and 'info'...
It's much appreciated, especially during this recent 'Lee Drought'
