Lee at Guildford

I did post a review on the other thread so look there please. In the meantime, a few more comments.

I don't remember that Lee changed costume much but that may be my lack of observation. Frankly I concentrate on his face and expressions and his voice but as far as I recall, he wore a white open-necked shirt and suit and he took the jacket off at one point when Matt did so.

Having watched Superstar and listened to ALW, Ingrid and I wish to state categorically that Lee's performances have both light and shade in vocal delivery and acting and he definitely works his undoubted magic through constantly thinking of the words. He has charisma and in our view total "arenability"!

Re: Lee at Guildford

Which is the other thread please?

Re: Lee at Guildford

Hi Sue
the main West End Men one started by johartuk probably underneath

Re: Lee at Guildford

Here are a few on-line reviews of the Guildford:

Not all are from Lee fans but all are very positive about our man.

I liked the comment "Lee Mead, who shot to fame by becoming the nation’s favourite Joseph in a televised talent competition, had the most relaxed and easy-to-watch stage presence which justified his win. And singing classics such as Music of the Night from Phantom of the Opera, he demonstrated he could well be a Phantom in the making."

I also agree with the comment about the saxophone solo "a five minute long sax solo that felt like it lasted five hours"

Re: Lee at Guildford

Greycat Lee was working in Phantom as understudy when he entered adwd. aLW knows all about his wonderful voice therefore and should hsve given him the part of jesus instead of putting on this show. That's my opinion.

Re: Lee at Guildford

Mine too, Sue! I haven't even watched the Superstar show because I was so annoyed about Lee being half-promised the role and then ignored after all!

Re: Lee at Guildford

Sue, I know Lee was working in the ensemble of Phantom of the Opera and was first understudy for the role of Raoul when he entered ADWD. I thought it was interesting than one of the reviewers of the Guildford concert mentioned that Lee could be a future Phantom - Phantom is a bigger/more difficult role than Raoul. In interviews, Lee has said that he would be interested in playing the Phantom one day but that he is too young at the moment. Hopefully it will happen one day!

For anyone interested in photos from Guildford, Abs has posted some lovely one on the Lovelees site here:
