I'm pretty sure it was British. It was about kids, I think a brother and sister, who made a boy robot. They had him run errands. At one point they sent him to the store for candy and he kept repeating over and over in a monotone, "Two choc bars, in a bag please."
If the robot went haywire or did something they didn't want him to do, they would get the "override control." At one point, there was a problem finding it or someone stole it or something and they were desperately trying to get it back.
