I was stationed Itazuke attached to the 8th
A&E working on f105,s. Had a great time there. I enjoyed the Japanese people, culture and food very much. My time living at the annex near the s-bar gate and latter at the air base produced many happy memories. Seems none of the names I remember have posted here. This is a great site thank you.

Nice site, brought back a lot of nice memories. Sort of disappointed when I read that the Annex had been torn down and built over. It was home away from home for 15 months. Reading how the school started in Fukuoka, it brought to mind a chore we performed around May day in 1952 or the holiday the Japanese males all wear the Sumo belts down to the tiniest boys. Five GI's including me took a weapons carrier into Fukuoka to pick up some school children and bring them back to base. There weren't many children that we picked up at the school. We returned to the Annex without any problems going or returning.

Left Japan in 1954, Dad stationed at Ft. Carson, CO til Sept. 1956 when we went to Nurnberg, Germany, then Mainz & I attended Wiesbaden HS & then Dec. 1958 to Ft.Riley, KS.'
Would like to find more that were at Itazuke when I was there. Anyone remember James Israel,Sandra Urech??? Have 4 married daughters and 22 grandchildren. Lost both my parents in 2005, within 3 mos. of each other.
My brother Ray, Jr. lives in KC, KS, no kids.

I only passed through Brady on my way to Ashiya in 1954. A lowly 2nd Lt didn't get much help from base personnel in finding transportation in the middle of the night. Nic esite, wish we had one for Ashiya.

I lived across from the Itazule Jr.high &grammer school. I know a lot of the people on the alumni list.Mike Nisbet. William Stringer.Robert Warren III, I think he is the brother of my friend Garry Warren.My sister was Sylvia Applegate , She passed away in 1989, my brother is Roy Applegate retired US Army,and my youngest brother Leonard Applegate he passed away in 1974. My Parents was the chaperone of the Teen Club. Mary Robbins & Larry (Robby) Robbins, they have both passed on. Torchy Stringer was my sisters friend, and Ken Fuller was a friend of my brother's Roy they joined the Army together while at Itazuke.I worked in electronics here in Fl.. was a Company Pilot for Happle Marine Ind. I have been in Fl since 1969 when I got out of College in Utah. Anyone that know me please do email me.8
