I am a personal chef. I believe my services could be a big help and stress reliever for families of special needs children. As a mom of a son with ADHD, Learning disabilities and anxiety disorder, I know how much time you need to invest in your child to help them succeed in places where they are sometimes the square peg in a round hole. My son is older now and is doing well so I started my meal prep business to help offload tasks from other stressed and busy parents of children with special needs.

CASANA - Apraxia-KIDS

I have a 4 yr old who was diagnosed with CAS this past year (moderate). I have a 15 mth old who is now working with B23 due to below average expressive and receptive language categories and Severely below average Adaptive abilities - identified as possible CAS. I have been looking for a group in my area but have been unsuccessful. Wondering if the Northeast or the New Haven group would be closer - please let me know. Hi All~

Stumbled upon this website after seeing someone's post on Facebook. My son has been in the CT Birth-3 program for the past 9 months or so now. He has also been receiving speech therapy at Connecticut Childrens Medical Center for the past few months. Nathan is turning 3 the end of this month and we just found out this week that CCMC specifically diagnosed him with Apraxia (nothing we weren't already expecting). Unfortunately, Birth-3 services run out as of his third birthday and Apraxia (diagnosis code 784.69) is not covered by our insurance so we will no longer be getting services from CCMC. We will however be starting up with our school system's therapy services next month.

Transitioning into the school system, even if it is just at this level is a bit scary for us. We aren't sure what to expect nor do we know if it's enough therapy for our son at this stage in the game. I know how hard it can be at times dealing with the Dr's, insurance companies, schools, etc. so I just wanted to reach out to anyone browsing the site. Any info would be great, and If I could be of any help to you please don't hesitate to drop me a line!!

Hi everyone,
I am from Rhode Island and there is no support groups in my area and CT is the next closest state to me. My son is almost I have had him in EI since 18 months and was diagnosed at Brown University with Apraxia last year. It has been an uphill battle with the school system and now he is entering Kindergarten, I feel I am battleing all over again with no clear idea of what my expectations from the school department shoudl be. Any suggestions on what I should require from the IEP?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
